Family medicine is the medical specialty that provides first contact as well as continuous, comprehensive health care for individuals, families, and communities across their entire lifespan, while also including care of all genders and reproductive stages. With over 70 faculty physicians and 10 advanced practice providers, Family and Community Medicine faculty and providers provides care for patients at sites across southwest Ohio. The Department of Family and Community Medicine enhances the health and well-being of our community not only through high quality primary care, but also by training the next generation of primary care physicians and engaging in primary care research focusing on health equity and quality improvement.
Family and Community Medicine faculty members are affiliated with several community health centers and provide healthcare to the medically underserved population. In addition, there are several specialty clinical programs within the Department of Family and Community Medicine:
Geriatric medicine, Primary care oncology and cancer survivorship, Integrative medicine, Palliative medicine, Gender-affirming care, Care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
