Our emergency physicians are residency-trained and board certified (or eligible) in emergency medicine with the unique ability to care for the most critically ill and injured patients. Most of our physicians also have four years of post-graduate training in the specialty of emergency medicine. University Hospital is the only level1 trauma center in the area that treats adult patients, and continually meets rigorous national standards in order to handle complex, multi-system traumas. It is also home to University Air Care, the area's only dedicated helicopter ambulance service, which has provided more that 25,000 flights for critically ill patients within a 150-mile radius. In addition to providing state-of-the-art critical care facilities, the Center for Emergency Care also includes an urgent care center for the treatment of minor injuries and illnesses, as well as many other emergency services that few other local hospitals provide, such as:
